This estate, years back was known as "NIJORI T.E." During that period there was an epidemic of the deadly disease known as KALA - AZAR in and around this estate whereby hundreds of people became victims of this deadly disease. Word had spread about this disease and it therefore became very difficult for the then Management to bring contract labourers from Chota Nagpur and Orissa. The Management therefore decided to change the name of this estate to Kellyden TE. The oldest section was planted in 1921.
