The estate comprises of two distinct sections, the
erstwhile Kadalaparai Estate, where the present factory
and office are located, and the Pannimade section,
which is along the Sholayar Dam. These two estates
were merged in 1962, after the Govt. tookover 381.87
acres of tea area on the Pannimade section, as catchment
area for what is known as the Sholyar Dam today. The
process of amalgamation took place in 1962, and the
estate retained the name PANNIMADE ("hand of
Mist ").
