Name : A lot of "Vaga Maram" (Dalbergia tree) originally planted in the area and hence the estate was named "Vagavurrai". The current estate is resultant to the amalgamation of lower & upper Vagavurrai Estate in 1965.

Elevation : MSL from 3500 to 6500 resulting in Vagavurrai having two different climatic zones.

Tea Factory built in 1912.

The Mini Hydel Power project at Vagavurrai (the only one among SIPD Estates).

Eravikulam national park borders this estate, which is home of the endangered "Nilgiri Tahr".

Luckham pool : 1) Trought fishing, 2) Picnic spot, 3) The depth of the pool has yet not been recorded.

Trees : Large namber of flowering trees i.e. Gulmohar, Dalbergia, Jakaranda, Spathodia & Orange trees grow on this estate.
